At least seven people were killed and five others wounded in multiple attacks carried out by gunmen in Warrap State last week, a local official said.

Gabriel Awan, the administrator of the defunct Tonj State, Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the first incident took place last Wednesday at Kabar Village of Manyangok Payam in Tonj South County when armed youth from Jalwau community attacked the area.

He noted that one person was killed in the attack and another sustained injuries, adding that the attackers stole more than 350 cows.

According to the local official, armed youth from Thiik community launched a separate attack on Jalwau community in Tonj East County where three people were killed and two others sustained injuries from both sides.

Following Tonj East attacks, Awan said, armed youth from Apuk community in coordination with armed youth from Thony community attacked Wanthalel community in Tonj South County where three people were killed and two others sustained injuries.

Awan however said the security situation has returned normal, while appealing to Jalwau community chiefs to return the looted cattle to their rightful owners.  

Separately, the administrator claimed cattle keepers from his area were attacked by farmers from Alur area in the defunct Wau State on Saturday.

The official accused some communities in former Wau State of violating the Marial-Baai agreement which regulates the relationship between pastoralists and farmers in the area.
