At least seven people were killed and three others wounded when armed youth attacked Ajakuac payam of Twic County in Warrap State on Tuesday, a local official said.
Nyuol Kon, the secretary general of the defunct Twic State, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the attack was allegedly carried out by a group of armed youth from neighbouring Unity State.
“There were some people who came at night, attacked people at a cattle camp in Ajakuac, shot 10 people, killing seven and injuring three others. The attackers came from Unity state,” explained Kon.
He further said their local youth also killed one of the attackers.
Kon urged cattle keepers in the two states to always monitor the movement of cattle raiders.
Authorities in Unity State could not immediately be reached for comment.
