Seven civilians and four UN peacekeepers were reported injured after fresh fighting broke out within the UN base protecting South Sudanese civilians under threat of ethnic violence in Malakal town on Sunday.
Ustaz Bona, a displaced person sheltering inside the UN base, told Radio Tamazuj that the brawl took place at the Protection of Civilians site between Nuer tribesmen and members of other tribes, prompting UN forces to intervene to disperse them.
Bona said there were about seven injured from the IDPs side and four from the UN.
In late October, four civilians were reported injured after fighting broke out between the Nuer and Shilluk tribes within the UN base in Malakal town.
