There have been 68 new cholera cases in South Sudan in the last week and one death, according to the UN’s Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
This is a slight dip from the previous week, when 88 new cases were reported.
South Sudan has had 1,675 total cholera cases including 46 deaths as of 28 August, representing a case fatality rate of 2.75%, OCHA said in a press release.
This is up from 1,607 cases including 45 deaths at the end of the previous week. Cholera cases in this year’s outbreak have been reported in Juba, Bor, and Pibor since June.
During a cholera outbreak last year, there were 6,421 cases including 167 deaths in South Sudan, representing a case fatality rate of 2.6%.
