A 60-year-old man died by suicide after his sister allegedly called him a witch in Mundri East County of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria State on Sunday morning.
First Lieutenant, Samuel Ruben, the inspector for police in Jambo Boma of Witto Payam where the incident happened, told Radio Tamazuj that the deceased, Eluzai Luka Tombe, hanged himself after his sister insulted him, according to a suicide note found at the scene.
“Yesterday in the morning of 27th of February 2022 at 7 O’clock, two of my policemen went to the scene and they told me that the deceased, Eluzai Luka Tombe of 60 years hanged himself because his sister called him a witch,” he explained.
He adds, “In his letter, he wrote that he wants his children to bury him.”
Ruben also added that the deceased was intoxicated at the time of death.
No one was arrested in connection to the incident, the policeman added.
