Star Trust Organization (STO) has graduated about 66 people in vocation training in Nzara County of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria State on Wednesday.
The training, which took three months, aimed at empowering the members of the communities who have an interest in entrepreneurship activities.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj the Executive Director of Start Trust Organization Mr Tangua said the selection of the participants was based on qualification and personal interest.
He said they will continue to support the communities in the area with tools and capital to start their businesses and also supervise their activities with the provision of mentors.
“The whole training targeted 1,900 youth, some are in vocational training in Yambio and some are at the community level so in Nzara we have a group of poultry, piggery, honey and food processing, the number we have is 66 in Nzara,” Tangua said.
Meanwhile, some of the participants who attended the training expressed their appreciation for the organisation and pledged commitment to implement what they have learned.
Alviria Marko Kpakasiro, one of the participants, said the skills gained would help to project into some beneficial economic activity.
She also advised men to allow their spouses to have access to such capacity-building opportunities to assist them to participate in developmental affairs.
Another participant Hilaria Baptist called on the government to support local initiatives across the country to empower women and youth to become innovators.
“My expectation from the government is, at least such program is very nice, let them keep on looping for other people to come,” she said.
