At least six people have been killed in different locations this week in Rumbek East and Rumbek Centre.
On Monday night, two people were killed in Akar-kar near Pacong payam headquarters of Rumbek East County. Two more were reported killed in Nyang-kot of Rumbek Centre and another person was killed in Cuei-adukan.
On Saturday night, youth leader Makuer Apil Bol, also known as Cot-aguot, was murdered in Tin-guot village near Manyang-patir in an incident suspected to be a revenge killing from another section of the Gong section.
The violence has caused many people in Rumbek town to be inside by dark.
Some residents are calling for an end to the fighting, saying it is preventing young people from marrying outside their own communities because of the divisions.
Intellectuals from Greater Rumbek have recently met to call on elders, spiritual leaders, chiefs, politicians, and others to intervene to stop revenge killings.
