Authorities in Duk Padiet County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State have arrested six men suspected of cross-border cattle rustling between Jonglei and Bieh States, a local official said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Martin Matien Gumwel, the commissioner of Duk Padiet County said they arrested six people on May 4 for cross-border cattle raiding in the area.
The local official said the arrested suspects are from neighboring Bieh State.
Commissioner Matien pointed out that the suspects are being investigated and will be taken to court soon.
Bieh state officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
