At least six people were killed and one injured when armed men ambushed a commercial vehicle along Ngauro-Kapoeta road in EasternState on Tuesday, a local official said.
“The situation in Kapoeta is generally calm, except that on June 16, an attack on a commercial vehicle on its way to kapoeta from Ngauro resulted in the death of six people and one person sustained injuries,” David Eriga, the Secretary General of the defunct Kapoeta State told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday.
He added, “The six were burnt to death after being shot by the criminals. We are tracing the whereabouts of those who did the barbaric act. It happened in a place called Lopala in the upper part of Ngauro”.
Eriga pointed out that since last month, the road has experienced frequent attacks leading to loss of lives and properties.
The local official urged the state government to form a committee to investigate the incident that occurred along the Ngauro-Kapoeta road.
He also urged the youth to cooperate with the government by providing accurate information to end insecurity in the area.
