500 Pibor citizens to receive eye treatment

South Sudan’s National Ministry of Health will carry out a week-long eye camaign starting 16 February to treat citizens suffering from eyes diseases in the Greater Pibor Administration Area.

South Sudan’s National Ministry of Health will carry out a week-long eye camaign starting 16 February to treat citizens suffering from eyes diseases in the Greater Pibor Administration Area.

Ali Yusuf Ngor, Director of Ophthalmology Department at the Health Ministry, told Radio Tamazuj that the campaign aims to eliminating trachoma and other eye diseases while providing health services in the area.

Dr. Ngor said the programme targets over 500 vulnerable people in rural areas and will last until 15 March.

The director said a qualified and equipped medical team will soon arrive in Pibor area.

He called upon citizens seeking eye treatment to report to health centres before the programme concludes in order to benefit from the trachoma campaign.

The campaign is organized in cooperation with the Christian Mission Aid (CMA) and relief group ZOA International.
