500 Messiria cattle recovered by Unity State authorities

At least 500 head of cattle belonging to Messiria tribesmen from Sudan were recovered by the Government of Unity State from armed youths over the weekend.

Engineer Gatwich Bipal Both, the state’s minister of information, told Radio Tamzju on Tuesday that the recovered cattle were raided by armed youth from Unity State from an area bordering Sudan where Messiria tribesmen displaced by the ongoing war between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been sheltering.

“The Unity State government directed security personnel to recover Messiria cattle that were raided over the weekend by armed youth from Unity State,” he stated.

Minister Bipal said that the cattle were returned to the owner on Monday and that the security situation is now calm in the area where Messiria settled.

“No one was reported killed or wounded from both sides and raided cattle were returned to the owner,” he added.
