At least 50 female police officers in Bor town of South Sudan’s Jonglei state are undergoing English language training.

According to education officials, the training on how to read and write is meant to improve the capacity of the police officers.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Saturday, Abel Manyuon Jok, the director general in the state education ministry said the police officers will undergo a 3-month training.

“More 100 officers will be trained in different batches for 3 months each. Now, we started with 50 officers. After the training, they will be examined and awarded certificates,” he said.

Manyuon added that the accelerated English language program at Makuach Institute for Education will also enhance the police capacity in investigations and reporting of cases.
