At least five SSPDF soldiers and a cattle trader were injured in an attempted cattle raid in Cueibet of South Sudan's Lakes State on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Chumnyiel between Abiriu and Abieicok Payams.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the police acting commissioner in Cueibet Town, Machar Majak said armed youth tried to steal cattle escorted by soldiers and cattle traders when the clashes occurred.
"Now we have confirmed that five SSPDF soldiers including a cattle trader have been wounded during the clashes with armed youth cattle raiders. But no cattle were raided," he said.
Majak noted that no one died in the confrontation but the wounded are receiving treatment at the Rumbek Hospital.
Despite the incident, the police officer says, the situation is calm.
