Warrap State officials say five people have been killed in separate incidents in Tonj South County this week.
Mabior Ajiech, the county’s acting commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the incidents happened on the 5th and 7th of this month.
In one of the incidents, Ajiech said a man killed two children in Warayat village and escaped.
“This man is not mad, he escaped with somebody’s wife carrying two children from another guy in Wulit Payam in Tonj East county. In June this year and escaped to the Marial Bai village in Western Bahr El Ghazal state,” said Ajiech. “He (the suspect) spent four days on his way from Marial Bai and stayed at Warayat, 4 km away from Tonj town and he killed these children with a knife at 8 o’clock local time in the evening. The babies were 3 and 5 years old.”
The acting commissioner said the security personnel is combing the area for the man who escaped.
Ajiech added that three other people were killed on the 5th of the month in different areas.
“One person from Yar was killed by someone from Thony on the way to Timbarkou village. He was shot dead and the killer was not caught. On the same day, someone killed his wife in Thiet town and that man was arrested. Another person was reported to have killed his uncle’s son at Yith-Kuel village and the perpetrator was arrested too,” he further disclosed.
Meanwhile, William Wol, Warrap state minister of information has confirmed the deaths and said they have directed the local authorities to apprehend the perpetrators.
