The authorities of Tonj North County have reported that five fishermen have been murdered by unknown gunmen in a fishing camp last Tuesday night.

Tonj North Commissioner Marko Awuoc Maduot says the police forces have been instructed to find the criminals.

"Those group they came at night and killed fishermen in the riverside in the place where they were fishing -- our force fought with them because they moving in big number," he said.

Marko urged the state government to deploy reinforcements across the six counties of the state in order to ensure safety of local residents.
