At least 5 people were found dead in Geissan, Blue Nile state, following attacks reportedly carried out by militias loyal to the Sudanese government in the villages of Bakuri and Amora on the 28th March.

Sources from the border between Blue Nile and Ethiopia told Radio Tamazuj named the victims as Ramadan Hardil and his wife, Dawa Bakuri, Nur el-Deen Ali, Bawad Hamad.  They added that hundreds of citizens fled to Ethiopian refugee camps following the attacks while dozens more are also said to be stranded in Khor al-Dahb, on the border.

Some of refugees, the source added, were transported to Kubri Khamsa camp by the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, but there are still dozens of families who remain stranded at the border living under very harsh conditions.

“More than 150 families are stuck in the border and about 50 families arrived using 20 vehicles to Kuburi Khamsa and up to now there still people stranded in the border,” the source claimed, speaking from the Ethiopian border.

They called upon UNHCR to speed up the transportation process so that those stranded may be able to reach the camps.
