A total of 400 women are currently attending business training in South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria State.
The three-week long training, organized by Action for Recovery and Transformation in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is targeting different categories of businesswomen.
Speaking during the training in Torit town on Friday, Emmanuel Buga, a trainer, said the first phase would involve equipping trainees with restaurant management skills.
“We are already progressing. The group I have is for restaurant services and cooking and we are done with extra services,” he said.
Marcellina Karama Angelo, a trainee, said the business training is providing them with skills in hotel management and customer care.
Meanwhile, Stephen Ohide, a director in the State Ministry of Finance, Trade and Industry, urged participants to put more effort in the training that would improve their living standards in the country.
“It is business that makes people earn a living all over the world. Even government benefits by taxing the business people,” he explained.
