400 South Sudanese Muslims from Northern Bahr el Ghazal state are organizing to perform the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

400 South Sudanese Muslims from Northern Bahr el Ghazal state are organizing to perform the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

Abdullah Deng, Secretary-General of the Hajj and Umrah in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, told Radio Tamazuj that the Office of President Salva Kiir will sponsor the trip.

Deng said the central bank has approved $20,000 on Kiir’s directive. He said foreign Muslims were not included in the donation, but they will get $20,000 like South Sudanese.

South Sudanese Muslims could not travel to Mecca last year due fighting that broke out in December 2013.
