More than 400 displaced families are in dire humanitarian condition following attacks curried out by gunmen on cattle camps in Gadiang area in South Sudan’s Jonglei State, a local official said.
Last month, local authorities said that at least six people were killed and over 2,000 cattle raided in separate attacks by gunmen on Gadiang area.
Twic North County Commissioner Deng Mabeny told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that over 400 displaced families from Gadiang area were relocated to Panyagoor area by a group of local youth due to deteriorating living conditions following the attack on their cattle camps.
He noted that the displaced people are in dire humanitarian conditions due to lack of food and shelter. He pointed out that VSF Germany organization conducted a needs-assessment mission, but the displaced families have not yet received any aid assistance.
The local official called on humanitarian organizations to provide aid assistance to the needy people as soon as possible.
