Wau will see an additional 400 police officers to strengthen security in the area, the state governor told Radio Tamazuj.
Andrea Mayar told Radio Tamazuj in an interview that the decision came after a meeting with the Ministry of the Interior.
In recent months, Wau has seen intense fighting. At least 40 people died and tens of thousands fled when government and SPLA-IO forces fought in the capital in late June.
“There is no problem. Things are going well” Mayar told Radio Tamazuj, but at the same time said there was a security gap in the state. Some security officials allegedly decided to abandon their assignments, he said.
