Panyijiar County officials in South Sudan’s Unity State say four suspected criminals were shot dead when they clashed with the commissioner’s forces in Pachaar Payam last week.
Unity State information minister Gabriel Hon Makuei Bol told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that one of the commissioner’s forces was wounded in the clashes.
He said the four were suspected cattle raiders.
“Some criminals clashed with the commissioner’s forces from Panyijar County whereby one soldier was wounded and four suspected criminals were killed by security forces and they are the ones who stole some cows from Eastern Lakes,” he said.
He confirmed that all raided cattle were recovered from the Nyang area of Yirol East County, saying the situation has been controlled by the county commissioner
“I can encourage the two commissioners to deal accordingly with those criminals whether they are from Eastern Lakes, Rumbek Center, or Panyijar counties. It is good news that the commissioners agreed that peace must be maintained among the communities,” he added.
