Four South Sudanese fighters were found dead in Sirajiya area near Abu Jubeiha in eastern South Kordofan after a fierce gunfight with members of the Kau-Nyaro tribe.

Sirajiya is about 50 km southeast of Abu Jubeiha off of the road toward Kaka on the Nile in the country of the Shilluk.

Different sources from the area told Radio Tamazuj that fighting broke out between members of the local communities and southern militia forces.

The militia based in Abu Jubeiha area consists at least partially of Shilluk recruits. It is described by locals as being loyal SPLM-DC Chairman Dr. Lam Akol Ajawein, a link that is not proven.

Locals speaking to Radio Tamazuj have complained repeatedly about the militia since about June last year, alleging various violations. Sources confirmed that the clashes broke out yesterday due to distress that the militia had imposed on them.

Fears persist of a second clash between the same parties.
