An amount of 4 million South Sudanese pounds has been raised towards the construction of new county offices and an airstrip in Mayendit County of Unity State, local officials said.
Thak Gai Bol, the Chairperson of the Rubkuai Constituency Intellectuals Union, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the new offices and the airstrip will be located in Tutyang.
“We will begin building the new office at Rubkuai Constituency. Each project has been allocated 2 million SSP,” he said.
Bol explained that local community members in Rubkuai Constituency and authorities in Mayendit County have been fundraising to support projects in the constituency, which has a population of 25,000 people.
“The fundraising aims to assist residents of Rubkuai constituency who lack an airstrip and offices so that the community can run their activities. The funds we have mobilized will enable them to pursue the two projects as they await the state government’s support,” he said.
“This is the first-ever fundraising event we have organized in Rubkuai town, and we are now delivering the funds to construct new offices and an airstrip at Tutyang Payam,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rejoice Marko, one of the residents who attended the fundraising event in Rubkuai Constituency, confirmed that they contributed toward the projects.
“I am very thankful to our intellectuals and local authorities for providing us with the means to support our activities during this challenging period,” she said.
