The authorities in Warrap State on Monday said that four people including a woman died in separate motor accidents in the last week across the state.
Fatal accidents involving cars and motorcycles have been frequently recorded in Kuajok Town and the counties due to poor roads and inexperienced drivers and riders.
Last week, two accidents occurred in Kuajok Town, one in Tonj East County and another in Gorgrial East County.
Gen. James Wol, of the traffic police in Warrap State, told Radio Tamazuj Monday that the four different accidents happened due to speeding.
“On 8 April, a 19- year-old boy was driving a Toyota Pickup No. SSD 861BB and he overturned in Angui village near Kuajok Town at 8:30 am morning and the driver died Immediately and four other passengers including a pregnant woman survived with serious injuries. On 7 April, at Romic, the headquarters of Tonj East County, a driver called Mawien Ahong knocked a person called Bak Bul Agolong down. The victim (Bak) later died and the driver was arrested the same day,” he said. “At Luony Aker town in Gogrial East County on 7 April, a motorist struck a 30-year-old woman called Ayak Wol and she died. That same day in Kuajok Town, a driver called Malier Malier was over-speeding and a passenger called Arop Malith Lier fell off the pickup he was driving.”
Meanwhile, Maluach Lueth, the Gorgial East County commissioner, confirmed the incident in his area and blamed motorists for speeding. He urged the traffic police to sensitize motorists about traffic laws.
