4 killed in collisions on Juba-Nimule road

Two people died and many were injured in a passenger bus collision on the Juba-Nimule road on Friday, survivors told Radio Tamazuj. Another accident involving smaller cars left two more dead.

Two people died and many were injured in a passenger bus collision on the Juba-Nimule road on Friday, survivors told Radio Tamazuj. Another accident involving smaller cars left two more dead.

The passenger bus was on its way to Nimule from Juba when it collided with another car at Jebel Gordon area. A survivor of the accident said that the bus got some mechanical problem at Jebel Gordan, and was hit by another car that was travelling to Nimule.

“Two people died immediately and many were injured and were taken to Nimule for treatment,” he said.

Nimule-Juba road, the only tarmac inter-city road in the country, is known for fatal road accidents. This is the second fatal bus collision this month.  

In another development three cars got into one accident on Nimule road leaving two dead.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj from the scene of the accident, Taban a brother to the driver of one of the cars involved in the accident said that his brother was on his way to Nimule when his car got into the accident.

The fatal victims of the crash included one of the drives and a female passenger.

The witness further said that due to fear and panic drivers are speeding along the Nimula-Juba road.
