At least 4 people were killed and 5 others injured when a commercial vehicle traveling from Akobo East county to Akobo West county fell under ambush in Duachan area on Saturday afternoon.

Johnson Simon Lul, Akobo State Information minister told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the driver of the vehicle who survived the attack managed to escape and inform authorities of the attack.

“Four women have gone missing. They ran into the bushes to hide and their whereabouts are not known. 13 children were also abducted from the car. The attack happened at 2.30 PM,’’ he added.

Lul said suspected armed youths from Murle of neighboring Boma State were responsible for the attack.

He revealed that Boma State authorities had informed them of impending attacks by Murle criminal groups.

“They sent us a message that there are Murle criminal youth moving towards Akobo State and are going to carry out the activities of abducting of children, cattle raiding and killing of innocent children, so we were in the picture. But this was a surprise attack,”

He said they have informed their Boma counterparts of the attack and called for a coordinated response to the menace.
