At least four people were killed and three others wounded in an attack carried out by cattle raiders on Majok Noon payam in Aweng County in South Sudan’s Twic State, several eyewitnesses said.
The eyewitnesses told Radio Tamazuj that the incident took place on Friday morning when an armed group believed to be from neighbouring Northern Liech state came and attacked the area.
Meanwhile, Chief Manoon Ater Guot, said that local youth can provide security if they are trained and armed to defend their territory.
The Commissioner of Aweng County, Longar Ayuel Abuoch, appealed to the state government to deploy security forces in the area. He pointed out that they will ask the government to train some youth to help stop cattle raid attacks.
Northern Liech officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
