The first batch of at least 38 fire brigade officers graduated in South Sudan’s Maridi State on Wednesday.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the state minister of local government and law enforcement, Body Michael Ngbangayo thanked parents for supporting those who completed the fire brigade training course.
He urged the graduates to contribute to the state’s development. Michael advised the officers to utilize the skills they have acquired during their training to offer services to the people in counties professionally.
For his part, the state governor, Africano Mande urged parents to persuade their children in the holdout opposition groups to abandon rebellion and return home.
Governor Mande said South Sudan government is ready to welcome rebel forces. “Please talk to your children to come back because the government is for peace,” he said.
