35 killed, thousands wounded south of Khartoum in August

The ongoing war in Sudan between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has claimed the lives of 35 civilians and wounded thousands in the area south of Khartoum during the month of August, the spokesperson of a local aid group said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, the official spokesperson of the Janoub al-Hizam Emergency Room, Mohamed Abdulla Kandasha, said 35 civilians were killed and 1,194 others were wounded during clashes between the army and the RSF in the northern part of Khartoum.

“In August, Bashaer Hospital received more than 1,194 wounded, 133 were women and 1,061 were men”, he said. “35 death cases were also recorded”.

Kandasha pointed out that there were two cases of sexual assault against two women, which were recorded at Bashaer Hospital.

Bashaer Hospital is the only functioning health facility in the area south of Khartoum.
