The houses of 35 families in Sinnar were looted and destroyed by unknown people from the same city in Sudan.
This is according to Adok Lawal, administrator of South Jowda. He told Radio Tamazuj the families, including women and children, fled Sinnar and arrived at the border between White Nile and Upper Nile state yesterday.
Lawal said the families were expelled forcibly ‘because they are Southeners’ living in Sudan. The administrator said he arranged to transfer the families to the displaced camp in Renk.
Earlier this week, bus passengers from South Sudan traveling to Khartoum were reportedly sent back to Renk by Sudanese authorities in White Nile state. The bus was stopped and searched in Kenana after having crossed the border between Sudan and South Sudan.
