300 cross from Nuba Mts. to South Sudan daily

Hundreds of refugees are crossing daily the border from Sudan’s South Kordofan area to Yida camp in Unity state of South Sudan amid complaints of mothers and children of lack of transportation along the way. Yida received this week more than 1,800 new refugees from the areas of al-Tes, Fama, Umm Dorein and al-Dar who reached the camp by foot. Some of the refugees told Radio Tamazuj that some people are footing throughout the day and some reach the camp at night. They said that the reason for their displacement is due to worsening living conditions in their areas besides aerial bombardments by the Sudanese forces in South Kordofan area. They pointed out that they are faced by many difficulties in South Kordofan in terms of food and security. The refugees further confirmed the failure of agricultural season in their areas, which forced them to migrate to Yida camp in search of food and security.
