About 30 women from various organizations on Friday completed three days of training on conflict management and trauma healing in South Sudan’s Wau state.
The workshop was organized by Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), a South Sudanese civil society body.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, CEPO’s facilitator, Betty Sunday said the event aimed at training women on conflict management, trauma healing, peace promotion and community reconciliation.
In the past, she explained, Wau state witnessed several incidences of tribal conflicts, which led to the disintegration of the social fabric.
“Women have a great role in society and that is why CEPO has trained women in Wau to act as peace ambassadors, carry out awareness and spread the culture of peace and reconciliation within the communities,” said Sunday.
President Salva Kiir and several opposition groups signed a peace deal in September 2018. It is the latest effort to end the devastating conflict now in its sixth year.
