The For Us All Agency (4UsALL), supported by the Pakam Intellectual Connect Organized, conducted a 10-day training on women empowerment, tailoring, and the Village Loan Service Association (VLSA) for economic sustainability in Lakes State’s Rumbek North county.

The training which concluded Monday brought together 30 women from payams across the county.

The executive director of For Us All Agency, Charlin Matoch Malok, said they initiated the training to support women in Rumbek North County.

“We have brought these women from the community for training based on their capabilities. We have trained them on Village Service Loan Association and tailoring,” he explained. “There has been no tailoring in Rumbek North County since the time of creation. We raised the funds for the training through committee intellectuals and the community intellectuals of the county through a program called Pakam Connect. We have a group that has SSP 200,000 to support their business and this is the training we have done so far.”
Matoch added: “The criteria we used to select these women include middle-aged women, young women and girls, widows and people living with disability and desire to be self-sufficient.”

Lahat Matueny, one of the trainees, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that she learned tailoring and is now able to stitch clothes.

“I have managed to mend all the torn clothes at home through my new tailoring skills,” she said. “All this time people have been sending their torn clothes 75 miles away to Rumbek town for mending but now we shall be doing everything here. I will be using the tailoring skills I have learned to help the community.”

Another trainee, Martha Amakou Maguen, expressed joy at acquiring tailoring skills and appealed to relevant organizations in Lakes State to support the women of Rumbek North County with tailoring machines and more training to master their skills.
