30 transferred from Kadugli women’s prison

The securities authorities in Kadugli of South Kordofan last week transferred at least 30 female prisoners from a jail in Kadugli to the central prison in El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan. The approximately 30 women were detained in Kadugli prison on charges of collaborating with the SPLM northern sector. Some sources from Kadugli told Radio Tamazuj that the national security and intelligence and another security apparatus quietly made the transfer last Thursday. The same sources confirmed that these women had entered a hunger strike last week and 6 of them were admitted to the hospital before being deported to El Obeid Prison. The families of the detainees on their side expressed concern, especially after being prevented from visiting their relatives during their detention which has last several months so far. It is likely that some of these women were among those arrested during a hunt by the security organ in Kadugli in November last year when SPLA-N was shelling the town.
