30 social workers in training in Unity State

National and state government together with the UN Children’s Fund are running a workshop in Unity State aiming to train 30 social workers over a period of ten days.

Lubna Abdel Ghani, the minister of gender and social development in the state opened the event Thursday at the hall of the agriculture ministry in Bentiu.

The subject of the workshop is the care and protection of children during natural disasters crisis, epidemic diseases, conflicts and wars.

UNICEF is funding the workshop, which is also supported by the national ministry of human resources development and the state ministry of information.

According to the minister, the workshop aims to help set up a national body of people who will be in constant readiness to meet crisis, disasters, and wars in order to protect and care for victimized children.

She further noted that the trainees will soon be sent to the nine counties of the state in order to extend this knowledge to the rest of the people of the state.
