The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) on Monday launched a thirty-day capacity-building training program for local coaches at the Juba Technical Secondary School.
The participants, 30 coaches picked from 15 local football associations, are set to achieve The Confederation of African Football (CAF) C License Coaching Certificate upon completion of the training.
Speaking at the start of the training, SSFA President Augustino Maduot congratulated the participants upon their enrolment into the program, hailing it as a pivotal landmark for the football association.
“This start holds great promise. I congratulate each one of you who have committed to the journey of the C Coaching Diploma Course,” he said. “Since assuming leadership of the football association, our chief priority has been fostering capacity because, without proper training, all our efforts and hard work will be meaningless.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Peter James, the technical director of the Under 20 South Sudan National Team, urged the participants to take the course seriously.
“The aspirants are expected to fulfill all stipulated requirements. Full attendance during this course is imperative. Any deviation, amounting to an absence of more than 10 percent of the designated minimum or total hours, will lead to immediate dismissal and a two-year prohibition from reapplication,” he warned. “It rests solely on the shoulders of the candidates. Those particularly hailing from the local football associations must recognize the potential deficit their absence could bring to their respective associations. They must, therefore, embrace this opportunity with solemnity and leave with tangible accomplishments.”
“Your unwavering cooperation, adherence to discipline, and respect are paramount throughout this course, paving the way for every one of you to depart as triumphant individuals,” Dr. James added.
For his part, James Garang, the chairman of SSFA’s coaching committee, hailed the Training and Education Department for their role in organizing the training.
“My sincerest appreciation extends to the devoted team at the Education Department of SSAF, the technical director, and the coaches for investing their time and energies in making this training possible,” he said.
The training was initiated by SSFA’s Department of Education and Training Committee.
