Authorities in Apuk South County in Gogrial State confirmed that three women kidnapped from their farm last week have been released by their abductors on over the weekend.

The three ladies, who were abducted while working on their sesame farm on Tuesday last week, were identified as Ayuel Deng, Atong Makuac and Adeng Madut.

Apuk South Commissioner Santino Yel told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the three women returned to their homes after being released on Saturday.

He further said the women were tortured for five days by unknown gunmen, pointing out that one of the women had a broken arm after being hit with the butt of a gun.

The local official revealed that two women sustained minor injuries.

Commissioner Yel claimed that the three women said that they were kidnapped and tortured by armed youth from Kuach North County and Wau State.
