Authorities in South Sudan’s Eastern Lakes State said three traders from the state were killed near the border with Amadi State on Wednesday last week.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the Eastern Lakes State Local Government minister, Simon Tueny Mabor said the attack occurred at the border between Mvolo and Mapuordit areas.
"The three local traders were shot and killed while they were going to Maridi state,” Mabor explained.
He pointed out that the three traders were ambushed while on a motorcycle. The state minister urged armed youth from the two states to cease revenge killings and allow free movement of people.
Emmanuel Majak Brown, the commissioner of Bahr Grinti County in Amadi State, confirmed the incident saying the attack was carried out by unknown gunmen.
“Authorities in the two states are working to control the situation. I urge our citizens to remain calm as authorities try to apprehend the perpetrators, so people should stop revenge killings, “he said.
