Authorities of Yirol West County of Lakes State have confirmed that three men shot and killed themselves on Monday after drinking alcohol.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the police chief inspector in the area of Alualuak, Colonel Michael Mayor Malaak, confirmed that the three men who were known criminals developed a misunderstanding while drunk and shot each other in Annuol Payam of Yirol West County.
He identified the dead as Machiek Mathou who exchanged fire with his brother Rokgic Mathou Mayen, and Chiec Alook Kulang who was wounded but later on succumbed to his gunshot wounds.
"They killed one of our prison officers and wounded another in Mapuordit while they were attempting to loot fuel and money earlier this month but they were pursued until one was also shot and wounded," Col. Mayor said.
The Payam administrator of Alualuak, Daniel Ichok Dhieu, confirmed the incident and said the three were known criminals who attempted to loot money and fuel reserves in Mapuordit on 12 June.
"I don't know what caused them to kill each other in Annuol Payam but I heard that the three of them shot each other dead on the spot. We are still waiting for the cause,” Ichok said.
