At least three people were killed and another one injured in two separate incidents in Duk Panyang County of South Sudan’s Jonglei State over the weekend, a local official said on Monday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Duk Pagak County commissioner James Yien Jal said on Sunday that two people were killed when suspected cattle raiders clashed with locals along the road linking Duk Panyang and Duk Padiet counties.
“Two raiders were killed in a clash with locals moving from Duk Payuel to Pajut (Duk Panyang). That happened on Sunday. One person was injured from our side,” he said.
The local official pointed out that another man was killed while hunting in the outskirts of Pajut on Saturday.
Yien accused armed youth from the neighboring Boma State for the attacks.
However, Radio Tamazuj efforts to reach Boma authorities for comment were futile.
