Three men including a trader were killed in two separate road ambushes in the outskirts of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) capital, Pibor town on Sunday, local officials said.
The GPAA Information minister, Jay Adingora Alual, told Radio Tamazuj that the dead met their fate on a road leading to LiKuangole on Sunday.
“In the first incident, a trader heading to Likuangole was killed just one kilometer outside Pibor town,” Minister Alual said. “On the same road in the afternoon, two men were also waylaid while moving to Likuangole, north of Pibor town.”
The information minister however said that no one was arrested because the assailants fled to the bush after the attacks.
For his part, John Amor Yaya, the Pibor County commissioner, said the whereabouts of the attackers are not known but that an investigation is ongoing.
“Those people are unknown gunmen who have killed several people on that road and we do not know where they went but the government is investigating the matter,” Commissioner Yaya said.
