The police in Kuajok town in Warrap State on Thursday said three people including a 9-year-old child were killed in two separate vehicular accidents on Wednesday.
Brigadier General James Wol, the state’s police director of accidents, said the accidents which occurred in Pan-Achier and Angui localities claimed the lives of a teacher, a child, and another man.
“Yesterday (Wednesday) at 3:00 pm in Wut-Achier village, there was a car going to Gogrial from Kuajok town, and a motorcycle carrying a mother and her child was coming from Gogrial town and they collided,” he said. “A teacher called Yel Makuac was the one riding the motorcycle and he and a nine-year-old child called Lual Agem died on the spot.”
“The mother who is now receiving treatment in Wau has fractured ribs and was severely bruised,” Gen. Wol added.
He said the other fatal accident happened on Wednesday night in the village of Angui.
“Another car and motorcycle accident occurred on the same day at around 8:00 pm in Angui and we lost a person who was riding a motorbike,” Wol said. “So, three persons passed on and all drivers and riders are in custody.”
Meanwhile, Kuajok Mayor John Akol Akol confirmed the accidents and advised motorists to be careful.
“The drivers should drive carefully to protect their own lives and those of other road users,” he said. “When you are driving, the lives of pedestrians depend on you. I am very sorry for the death of the teacher and the others and I appeal to the bereaved families to be strong.”
