At least three people were killed in two separate attacks by unknown gunmen in the contested territory of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan on Sunday, a traditional leader said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the Ngok Dinka Paramount Chief, Bulabak Deng Kuol said at least two people were killed and four others injured after a commercial vehicle came under attack on its way to Amieth Joint Market from Abyei town.
He further said an elderly woman was also killed and one person injured in a separate incident at Marial Achak after they were attacked by unknown gunmen on Sunday morning.
The traditional leader accused militia supported by the Sudanese government and armed Misseriya herders of involment in the attacks.
