Forces allied to SPLA-IO rebel leader Riek Machar claim 3 of their soldiers were killed and four others wounded when they clashed with government troops east of Leer County of Unity State on Tuesday evening.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the rebel military spokesman in former Unity state James Yuac accused government forces of launching attacks on their positions in Gadur and Naya-giny east of Leer, leading to the deaths and injuries.
He also claimed that their forces inflicted heavy losses on the government troops.
But SPLA military spokesman Lul Ruai Koang denied the allegations. He claimed the clashes that happened in Leer were between rebel forces and citizens after the rebel forces looted cattle in the area.
