Police authorities have confirmed that three people were on Tuesday killed in separate road ambushes by gunmen suspected to be from the Waat section of Cueibet County of Lakes State.
The separate killings took place in the areas of Citcok, Wun-cuei, and Luoch.
The acting commissioner of police in Cueibet Town, Colonel Machar Muorwel, told Radio Tamazuj that no suspects have been apprehended.
"The area where the road ambushes and killings took place is flooded and it is not being assessed by security forces,” Muorwel said.
He appealed to the Waat section of the Gok community to cease ambushes and killing people.
"Now, the Waat section killed these people thinking that they are from the Panyar section but after they were killed, it was found out that the deceased are from the other sections of Pathiang and Akony of Gok community," Muorwel said.
He warned the Waat section of consequences which will result from these cold-blooded murders of innocent people.
"I am appealing to Waat section to stop killing of innocent people who are not their target for revenge against Panyar,” Muorwel warned. “This practice must stop because it will cause possible consequences from other communities whose people they killed without.”
