3 civilians dead, hundreds displaced in Tore

At least three civilians are reported dead while hundreds have been made homeless after the government forces and armed opposition forces clashed in Tore county, Yei River state on Monday. Several others are also reported to have sustained injuries. One of the victims is an ambulance driver working for Tore rural referral hospital. It was not clear what sparked the fighting. The area Commissioner Martin Mullai Dodo could not be reached for comments at the time. Dodo is reported to be out of the administrative headquarters of Tore area. A local resident of the area who asked not to be named because of reprisals told Radio Tamazuj that many of the residents of the area ran into the bushes for safety. “When fighting happens in area, people cannot stay in one place. They will run to the bushes for their safety. The situation in the area is still worrying”, said the source. Tore County is located 45 miles along the Yei Maridi road and is said to be one of the counties in the state that has had relative peace since the conflict broke out in July 2016.
