Three men have been arrested in Twic County of South Sudan's Warrap State after they allegedly beat up a man to death, officials said.
Twic county Commissioner Deng Tong Goch told Radio Tamazuj on Saturday that the man who died at a health facility on Saturday was beaten and hurt on the head on Friday at Akak Boma in Panyok Payam during a fight among youth in the area.
Tong said three men suspected to have been involved in the fight were arrested and are detained at the Akak police station.
"They said yesterday (Friday) that there was a fight at Akak Boma, Panyok Payam where youth fought and eventually in the morning one who had serious injuries on the head died at Akak health center. This is what happened. The Payam Administrator managed to control the situation and the suspects were jailed at Akak police station," he said.
An eyewitness, Deng Atem Ngardit, said that the fight started after the deceased and two of his friends attacked a shopkeeper at Akak market for refusing to sell alcohol to them on loan.
He said the shopkeeper who fought back in self-defense injured the victim who died of excessive bleeding, according to Atem.
