Authorities in Amadi state of South Sudan said the three people kidnapped over the weekend have been released.

Authorities in Amadi state of South Sudan said three people kidnapped over the weekend have been released.

On Saturday, two women and one man were kidnapped after a vehicle they were travelling in was ambushed by an armed group in the area. The driver and one other person were taken to Amadi hospital after sustaining injuries from beatings.

On Tuesday, Amadi State Information Minister John Obote told Radio Tamazuj that those abducted were released on Monday.

However he added that the people released suffer severe injuries from beatings but are now in hospital undergoing treatment.
