Police authorities have arrested a chief and three civilians suspected of killing a 32-year-old man in Ruthnyibol Payam of Mayom County in Unity State on Tuesday.
The County Police Director General, Taam Kuol Deng, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that he had confirmed the arrests.
Deng said the incident happened in the evening hours after an argument arose between one of the suspects and the deceased over livestock.
There was a gunfire exchange, which caused the death, the police boss said.
He said the deceased was gunned down as he attempted to flee towards the river.
Deng said more details would be provided upon the completion of investigations.
Mayom County commissioner Luka Chierye Riek also confirmed the incident to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday.
He said four people, including the chief of Ruthnyibol Payam, had been arrested to help with the investigations.
Riek said that the suspects would be sent to the police headquarters Thursday morning.
