Sudan and South Sudan are set to play each for the first time ever at this month’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup since South Sudan declared its independence in 2011.
The group with the two Sudans includes also Malawi and Djibouti, comprising Group C for the regional East and Central African Championship (CECAFA) hosted by Ethiopia from 21 November to 5 December as announced on Wednesday in the Cecafa’s headquarters in Nairobi.
South Sudan began playing international football in 2012, competing at Cecafa that year as well as in 2013. The two teams are set to play in Bahir Dar on 25 November.
